Pressure overload due to aortic stenosis leads to left ventricular hypertrophy, which leads to a drop in ejection fraction - but what if we had a parameter that detects more subtle changes earlier? Could we maybe even help patients with valvular heart disease before their quality of life begins to drop? You guessed it - we might be able to, and strain could be the key.
